Festival Fever

The 2012 Salford Music Festival this year includes over 220 live bands & DJs playing across Salford in 20 different venues over the 4 day period between 20th and 23rd February.

Top of the bill this year is The Fall who are delivering 3 performances. Blackpool’s Karima Francis is another headline act. Her second album, The Remedy, was released in August 2012. Her single Glory Days was featured in the first episode of Waterloo Road’s eighth series.

Now in its 3rd year the festival has doubled in size since it started in 2010.

The Lowry Theatre is the venue for all main stage events and together with 19 other venues spread across the whole of Salford every postcode in the city gets a look in.
Unfunded and a registered not for profit group, as well as being totally independent, the Salford Music Festival is creating a huge stir this year and boasts that 95% of all the gigs are free to the public.
As part of the festival programme this year a “just for kids” free concert has just been announced with an incredible line up of new artists heading for great things including Hatty Keane, Heidi Ann, Girl Peculiar, F.T.W, and from the USA, Monty Show favourites, He Met Her. The free show will take place at The Lowry Theatre on Friday 21st September from 5pm – 7pm with all the tickets being given away for free.
The festival has received support from Noel Gallagher,Ed Sheeran & Florence & The Machine as well as unique artist Stella Vine who is currently painting a back drop for The Fall each day from 10am – 9pm  streaming the whole thing live here http://www.ustream.tv/channel/stella-vine
