Something is Occuring

Nice video and tune below – the promo says……

They are a 4-piece from the north-west of Ireland who aspire to remember the importance of the elements that make for great music: melody, harmony and groove. They have developed their sound over the past 4 years to create a music style that is rich in vocal harmonies which they describe as Rhythm and Groove.

On 19th August Oddsocks will release their new EP “There’s Something Going On” in the UK. This is their third release under their own label Jeanie Mac Records. This will be preceded by the on-line release of their single and music video for the title track ‘Something’s Going On’ on 26th. The single has already achieved Irish national and local airplay including the Dave Fanning Show on RTE 2fm. The track, EP and the coinciding video have also achieved praising reviews from the Irish media along with over 5,000 views on YouTube during the Irish release week.

On the record, the band are joined by keyboard player Kieran Quinn who, through the use of the Hammond organ, Rhodes piano and grand piano, helps to create a different mood not heard before with Oddsocks. Funky guitars, stacked vocal harmonies and vintage piano sounds colour each of the Ep’s four tracks proving that these boys are as dedicated to making great records as they are to playing a dynamite live show.

The band has gigged across Ireland, Scotland, England, France and Holland as well as hitting the festival circuit (Electric Picnic, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Volvo Ocean Race Finale). Their first UK tour took them from Edinburgh to London where they played support to Brixton’s Alabama 3 and gained a residency in London’s Boogaloo venue. Now after a highly successful Irish tour and with a new UK EP tour penned in for August/September, 2013 promises to be a busy and fruitful year for Oddsocks.

Most enjoyable – harks back to the best of Hall and Oates and early Dan……
